Kitchen Clean-up Tips
Knowing the proper way to clean your kitchen, from appliances to clogged drains, is just important. If you take care of your items, they will last a long time and will be ready to use the next time.To clean your blender: Fill part way with hot water and then add a drop of liquid dish detergent. Put the lid on and run for a few seconds. Rinse, drain and tip upside down so all the water drains out and allow to dry. Make sure you have a spoon or something under one side of the blender to that air can circulate.
Did you burn something to your pans? Sprinkle the burnt pan with baking soda…don’t be stingy with it…and just enough water to moisten…you should see no water standing…you are making sort of a paste. Leave alone for a couple hours. You should be able to wipe clean or use a spatula to remove the burnt on food.
Use a toothbrush to clean the small areas on a can opener. Run a damp paper towel through the cutting blades (as if you were opening a can) to clean the blades.
Save your money…use the cheapest dish liquid you can find (including store brands) and add a few Tablespoons of vinegar to the water before washing dishes in the sink. The vinegar will cut the grease and leave your dishes sparkling.
If you use a dishwasher, you can still use a cheap dishwasher liquid and add 2 Tablespoons to the gel before washing your dishes. Also, every once in awhile, you will want to put a cup of vinegar in a glass and run through the entire washing cycle. The vinegar will help remove the soap film.
Clogged kitchen drain? Mix a cup of salt and a cup of baking soda, pour down the drain and then pour at least 8 cups of boiling water down the drain. This should open up your drain immediately. Depending on how bad the stain is, you might have to do this more than once. You can do this once a month as a preventative measure.
Garbage disposal smelling bad? Cut up a lemon or orange rind and put in the disposal. Add a few ice cubes to sharpen the blades while your at it and cut the disposal on. The citrus will help get rid of the odors.
