Baking Tips – Cakes and Mini Nut Breads

Have you ever wanted to make a cake for a party, but wasn’t sure if you would have enough for everyone?  Or have you ever wanted to make some little mini loaves of nut bread to give out as gifts for the holidays?  I have some tips that will help you with your next baking experience.Follow these guidelines and you will always have enough for everyone at your next party.

  • One 8- or 9-inch – round pan – will serve 8
  • Two 8- or 9-inch – round pans – will serve 12 to 16
  • One 8- or 9-inch – square pan – will serve 9 people
  • 13×9x2 inch rectangular cake will serve 12 to 16 people
  • 10×14 inch angel food or chiffon cake will serve 12 to 16 people
  • 12 cup bundt cake or pound cake pan will serve 16 to 24 people

And what about those litte mini nut bread loaves?  Here are some tips on baking with them.  All of these are to be baked at 350′ F.

  • If your pan size is 1/3 cup – use 1/4 cup batter and bake for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Pan size is 1/2 cup – use 1/3 cup batter and bake for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Pan sizes from 2/3 cups to 3/4 cups – use 1/2 cup batter and bake for 25 to 35 minutes
  • 1 cup pan size will use 3/4 cups batter and 35 to 40 minutes of bake time.
